These are removal prosthetics done for replacement of missing tooth or teeth. There are two main types of partial dentures; all plastic (with or without retention arms) which are considered as temporary, or ones with a precise metal framework, which are for more long-term use.
Fixed options, whereby the missing artificial teeth are fabricated to join to multiple crowns for retention are done to mimic real teeth. Bridges can be made of a variety of materials. The success of any bridgework depends on gum and bone health in the area.
Implants are nothing more than artificial root forms which are often made of Titanium. They are only replacing roots, so they can be used to hold crowns as well as full and partial dentures. Once Implants integrate or heal, they almost become part of the jaw bone, so removal can be very difficult.
